Viktor’s music could be deemed as Eldritch form of Necrom Metal. It couples dark orchestral textures and electric guitar lines in a ghoulish atmosphere, not quite meant for humans to hear… Its harmonies unveil the darkest secrets the universe should always hide…

Back Story

Viktor Craft use to be one of the most emblematic figures of (…), but the death of his beloved wife, Luxia, turned him into a monster…

At the time he was about to sign a commercial treaty allowing passage to the kingdom of (…) through his lands, therefore opening new trade routes; but some neighboring lords were not happy about that deal, and although he never knew for sure, it is probably what lead to Luxia’s death.

Her convoy had been attacked while she came back from a meeting with other dignitaries in preparation for the treaty. Her escort managed to bring her back home, but she was severely wounded by a poisoned weapon.

In a desperate attempt to save his beloved wife from certain death, Viktor went to the dark lands and was turned into a vampire, in the hope that he could give her immortality, but when he returned, it was too late…

Since then, as he cannot himself die, Viktor has been obsessed with the hopeless dream of bringing Luxia back to life. This led him to become a master in the dark arts and Necromancy. He studied ways of reviving dead salts and ashes, animating characters in paintings and books, wakening corpses and dead flesh, but his attempts always resulted in the foulest representations of « humanity », and he despaired of ever being able to bring back Luxia the way she was.

Disparitions among Viktor’s people frequently occured; and it is said that he used to conduct all kinds of evil experiments on his servants and subjects and sustain on their blood. Therefore, people started to flee from his cursed lands…

That is when Viktor started to summon help from the darkest corners of the cosmos, calling on entities no sighting could survive, and with those new partnerships, he began to develop new unholy cravings, such as a taste for dark matter slime…

In spite of this obvious evil, no one has ever had the courage to defy him nor bring him to justice. Everybody now shuns Count Viktor’s cursed lands, which are now a charred, desolate wasteland covered in cosmic slime and populated with the most horrible creatures. He therefore lives alone in his black, ruined castle, surrounded by his sadistic minions, conducting his unnamable experiments…

Time

Time… is a dark instrumental track mainly involving strings and woodwinds in a suspended harmony. The guitar plays a descending chromatic melody which symbolizes the eternal passage of Time, seen here as an uncanny entity which is not to be trusted. Its evasive nature, its constant grasp on everything and its unwillingness to fit the laws of men have always fascinated Viktor.

And in an attempt to find a way to restore one’s youth, he discovered how to age anything (or anyone) considerably in a matter of minutes. Listen closely, and you will hear the complaints of the souls he’s taken with this process during the bridge section of the track.

Viktor’s tremendous necromantic powers are unleashed during the epic ending guitar solo, and the track then ends on a twisted counterpoint of the main melody played by the flutes and bassoons as it fades out eternally, leaving the listener with the terrifying certainty that the worst is yet to come…

Inspiration

The primary thematic inspiration for Viktor Craft is the work of H.P. Lovecraft and the genre of Eldritch Cosmic Horror. This is due to creator Louis Nas’ passion for the authors work and this genre, which he evokes through his personal Instrumental Metal project Ominous Conclusions.
