BIOGRAPHY
Vlagorix IV is, as the name suggests, the fourth planet of the Vlagorix star system. An unsightly mass of oranges and browns, Vlagorix IV was a celestial eyesore long before the first Gydunian set foot upon it and buried a pickaxe in its rock.

Only Gydunians would look at their home, vast, empty, frozen wastes, and decide to colonise a planet of almost entirely vast, empty, scorching wastes. Vlagorix IV’s thin atmosphere could not stop much of the star’s radiation from blasting the rock for millions of years prior to atmospheric engineering, conducted to create a more viable colony.

BIOGRAPHY
Vlagorix IV does have one thing in its favour. The planet’s crust holds an immense wealth of ores and minerals that are required across the galaxy. Countless generations of digging tunnels on their home world left Gydunians well-equipped to extract the colony’s abundant resources and mining operations account for the majority of the planet’s economic output. Immense conglomerates squabble over the rights to tear the planet apart with underground, open cast and strip mines, unwilling to leave a single nugget in place. The underground mines oft become great tombs as ceiling collapses or the planet’s population of giant shitworms cause the unfortunate workforce to be buried kilometres below the ground. Surface mines are only slightly safer, as the gargantuan machines required to tear away the face of the planet do not discriminate between rock and flesh.

The colonist workers of Vlagorix IV did not dally when it came to seeking shelter. As the foundations of industry were laid, shanty towns sprang up around them. Shacks made from scrap, “borrowed” construction materials and in some cases derelict industrial vehicles are heaped atop each other, providing homes for the working population. These homes were, and remain to this day, the best that most workers on Vlagorix IV can hope for as it was the working poor that were exported from the Gydunian home planet to exploit the colony. These unwilling settlers soon gained the name Vlags from the Gydunia-dwelling Pures that sent them to the world they now call home.

Vlagorix IV’s only “purpose built” city is its capital Ulkgaard. Where other settlements grew around industry organically, Ulkgaard was, to begin with, constructed to house the administration necessary for the planet’s industrial activity, but over time it grew into a more conventional city with its own supporting industry and a thriving commercial economy. Whilst not a reflection of the grand Gydunian city of Brutanamor, Ulkgaard is similar in that it is a cultural centre, only this time for Vlags.
