THE HOME OF CELESTIAL DEMOCRACY
Gal is the lone planet orbiting the star, Soleon. It is the ancestral homeworld of the Galapeon people and home to the Celestial Democracy. It is a historically luscious world, with vast oceans and green, fertile ground. For thousands of years the Galapeon people lived a rich and diverse history, but centuries of overpopulation and hard industrial work took its toll.
Galapeon life as we know it is expected to have evolved on Gal approximately 10,000 years ago, throughout which the world was shaped by ages of war. Gal saw the rise and fall of many great empires; through the bronze age, to the renaissance, to industrial revolution, all the way up until the digital age. It was their progress that threatened their demise, as the world became stretched for resources, its oceans polluted and its people in poverty.
Order collapsed. The Syndicate Revolution had begun, as society broke out into chaos, resources were claimed by those who organised most efficiently. It became a dog-eat-dog world where the only way to survive was to be with a Syndicate. The hospitality of Syndicates varied greatly, with many known for their extremely harsh treatments and high rates of death. For centuries the world was torn by gang warfare, millions dying in the crossfire.
The truth was dawning on the Syndicates. There was only a finite amount of resources left on Gal and even the most successful of them wouldn’t last the century. The Galapeons began to look to the stars as their only viable way of securing a future. Ambitious attempts in aerospace technology burned valuable resources for the Syndicates. It was not possible for any individual organisation to succeed in such an operation alone, as it would take the combined resources of all Galapeons to ensure their survival.
A landmark agreement was made between the Syndicates in pursuit of galactic conquest. It was decided that different Syndicates would set out to colonise the four neighbouring worlds within their reach, where they would each be given roles to play in the greater agenda. Every Syndicate would have its own share of representatives, ensuring fair distribution of resources amongst the colonies of the five worlds. This colonial network would be known as the Galapeon Commonwealth, which would later come to form the basis of Celestial Democracy.
Having successfully established colonies over five Inner-Rim worlds, the Galapeon Commonwealth had become the most influential civilization in the galaxy. Expansion began, as the Galapeon people explored the Celestial Sea in search of new worlds to conquer. Diplomats would travel throughout the Mid-Rim inviting alien civilisations to join the Celestial Democracy. Valuable allies were gained, further increasing Galapeon dominance, as hostile worlds would have to answer for.
In modern times, Gal remains the administrative homeworld of Celestial Democracy, with many political conferences taking place each year in the planet’s capital of Galfon. It is a dangerous world, largely industrialised and war torn, having endured centuries of Syndicate warfare. Those who remain on Gal develop a thick skin to its hostile environment, Syndicates still rule the streets, much as they did during the revolution. Celestial Democrats are given secure accommodation, heavily guarded in order to protect from political terrorism. Sponsorship from an organisation is seen as all but essential, as without insured protection, life on Gal is an urban wilderness.
