DYSTOGA THE DEVASTATED
Before the Dimyltryptium War, Dystoga was a lush planet teeming with diverse fauna and flora. The native intelligent species, Dystogons, are naturally placid and peaceful tribespeople and had colonised and divided the entirety of the planet’s supercontinent: Gnaxibos, into equal territories amongst the 7 Great Dystogon Tribes. Beneath the planet’s surface, the largest ever recorded Dimyltryptium Reservoirs were located by the Celestial Democracy in several locations across the tribe lands of Gnaxibos, setting in motion Dystoga’s first ever interplanetary skirmish: The Dimyltryptium War.
Now, after the Dimyltryptium War, Dystoga is a wasteland. Its surface; ravaged by artillery, and all life; either destroyed or adapted to survive in the planet’s hostile biosphere. The atmosphere is polluted with Dimyltryptium Plasma, charged residue from the extensive fracking of the Dimyltryptium reservoirs, causing adverse effects on the cognition of the Dystogon brain. This has resulted in the devolution of Dystogon society. In the Dimyltryptium fallout, ‘The United Tribes of the Wastelands’ run riot throughout Gnaxibos, commandeering abandoned Celestial Democracy military tech and scavenging to survive.
Dystoga is now the talk of much political and ethical contention, with the Celestial Democracy choosing to hide and manipulate what really happened. The ‘Dystoga Project’ is a CD initiative to rebuild Dystoga, so that it may flourish once more, an attempt to make amends for the devastation that occurred. This, however, is just a front. A political diversion to keep the general population on side.
More practically, Dystoga is treated by the Celestial Democracy as a prison sentence. Many criminals volunteer for the Dystoga project over seemingly worse alternatives, not knowing that they will be simply dumped in the wasteland and left to fend for themselves. Once stranded, a prisoner must quickly find a gang to join if they wish to survive. These are often segregated by race, with the mutated Native Dystogons remaining the dominant species. Life is extremely fast paced and aggressive, scavenging is a necessary means to survival as the gangs compete for resources; locked into a violent arms race for better weapons, vehicles and technology.
